“And whatever you ask for in prayer, having faith and really believing, you will receive.” - Matthew 21:22

After Carter-Man we were DONE! We were pretty resolute in this decision and openly shared that with family and friends that asked “will there be another one?”. Nope. We are good! Then a late cycle had us lightweight excited about the possibility of a bigger family. We questioned our sanity for sure. My cycle eventually came and we were actually sad. Maybe our family wasn’t quite complete?!? DJ always wanted a BIG family. I always said I wanted three. We are awesome parents right? The kids would love a sibling. Let’s go for it, we said.

Trying turned into months of no success. We were referred to a Reproductive Endocrinologist (Fertility Specialist) in the area who ran a million tests only to conclude that being OLDer was my downfall. We talked through options and began fertility treatment. What a hormonal roller coaster that would turn out to be! In the middle of all that trying, my 39th birthday was approaching. I was losing hope.
Maybe I was too old. I remember reading Matthew 21: 22 “And whatever you ask for in prayer, having faith and really believing, you will receive.” during my daily devotion. I stopped and wrote on a notecard that the year of 39 would be the year for our baby. I even wrote down the two names we knew we wanted. I placed that notecard in my Bible and it would stay in that spot for a year. I would reference that verse often. I did my best to remember that verse as we endured two miscarriages.

My 40th birthday came around and I wasn’t in much of a mood for celebrating. We had decided that after this 6th round of treatment we would be done trying and accept that our family of 4 was what God wanted for us. Instead of a party, we planned a trip to Hawaii. A MUCH NEEDED vacation! It was the absolute BESTEST. My cycle was supposed to start toward the end of our week long trip. I refused to pack anything in preparation. One morning we went ziplining. I felt a little nauseous. I chalked it up to nerves for signing up for such a foolish activity that neither of our mothers would approve. We survived ziplining and we departed Hawaii without my cycle having ever started. We were cautiously optimistic. We got home so late that I waited to test until the next morning. Five First Response tests and 3 bottles of water later…it was official “PREGNANT!”. Given our history of loss, weekly doctor visits to monitor the pregnancy were required. We cautiously shared with parents and eventually a few select friends after we hit about 9.5weeks. Telling the kids was the BEST of them all. They had been praying for months for a baby sister or baby brother or both (yea right). And here we are. We are beyond excited for our Rainbow Baby! We are excited to finally share our joy with you all as well! Harris Party of Five is about to be a thing! Keep us lifted!

Baby Showers & Baby Registries
As you may have guessed, we will not be having a traditional baby shower this pregnancy! We do invite everyone to attend our "Drive-By Shower" on Saturday August 15, 2020 at 7pm.
Please know that your well-wishes and prayers are all that we could ever need! We are beyond blessed and would never expect a gift to be received. For our family and friends that can't seem to resist, we have put together two registries (listed below) because we know you will insist.
